BUTTERMILK – Knitting Pattern 🧶

Buttermilk is a soft, cosy sweater with a relaxed, slightly oversized fit – the kind of sweater you simply want in your wardrobe. 🤍

The pattern was designed especially for our Liloppi Swing To Knit yarn, whose unique colour combinations and additional strands allow you to create Buttermilk in so many different versions. Choose a subtle, delicate bobbin or go bold with colour – the simple construction of this sweater lets the yarn take centre stage.

Buttermilk is knitted seamlessly from the top down, mainly in stockinette stitch. It features raglan construction, with increases worked at different rates for the body and sleeves to create a comfortable, relaxed fit. Both the body and sleeves are knitted in the round. The ribbed cuffs and hem are finished with two rounds of knit stitches, creating a subtle, decorative rolled edge.

This is also a great project for anyone just starting their knitting journey and dreaming of making their first sweater. German short rows can be used to shape the neckline, but this part is optional. 🧶

Pattern Details

Sizes: S (M) L (XL)

Gauge: 17 stitches × 23 rows = 10 × 10 cm

Yarn Requirements:

• Sizes S–M: 1000 m of Liloppi Swing To Knit

• Sizes L–XL: 1500 m of Liloppi Swing To Knit

Needles:

• 4.0 mm

• 4.5 mm

• Circular needles with 80 cm and 40 cm cables

• Short 25 cm circular needles for the sleeves, or your preferred alternative technique, such as Magic Loop

Additional Supplies:

• 4 stitch markers to mark the raglan sections

• A spare cable or stitch holder to hold the sleeve stitches
