Liloppi Swing Cashmeri is an exceptionally soft range of hand-wound yarn cakes, made from a fine Italian yarn containing 10% cashmere and 40% fine merino wool. The blend is completed with 30% viscose and 20% polyamide, creating a fabric that is soft, gently draping and wonderfully cosy, while still providing excellent stitch definition for textured patterns.
Cashmere brings softness, lightness and warmth, merino adds warmth and elasticity, while viscose contributes smoothness and a subtle drape. Polyamide strengthens the yarn, improves durability and helps the finished fabric retain its shape.
A single strand of Cashmeri is very fine and has a slightly rustic, somewhat crisp feel before washing. Its true character develops after washing – the fabric becomes smoother, softer and more pleasant to the touch. Stitch definition remains beautifully clear, making Cashmeri an excellent choice not only for simple stockinette, but also for cables, lace, seed stitch and other textured patterns.
One or two strands of Cashmeri can also be used as a stabilising thread alongside mohair or other very lightweight yarns. It helps reduce stretching and allows the finished garment to retain its shape better after washing and during wear.
With different numbers of strands and a wide choice of yardages, Swing Cashmeri can be used for everything from lightweight shawls, scarves and delicate knits to sweaters, cardigans and warmer, more enveloping projects. In the Special versions, an additional effect thread adds texture, colour, shimmer or another decorative element to the finished fabric.
Cashmeri yarn is certified to SFA (Sustainable Fibre Alliance) standards for responsibly sourced cashmere and RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) standards for responsibly sourced wool. These standards cover areas including animal welfare, protection of grazing lands, responsible farming practices and fibre traceability.
The collection includes several ways to work with the same Cashmeri base yarn:
- Cashmeri Mono – 1, 2, 3 or 4 strands, from 100 to 1800 m
- Cashmeri Mono Special – 3 or 4 strands of Cashmeri combined with an additional effect thread, 800–1800 m
- Cashmeri Ombre – 3- or 4-strand yarn cakes with smooth colour transitions, 800–1800 m
- Cashmeri Ombre Special – 3 or 4 ombre strands combined with an additional effect thread, 800–1800 m
