Mondim Yarn – Portuguese Fingering Weight Wool
Mondim is a fingering weight yarn made from 100% fine Portuguese wool, non-superwash treated. Its name comes from the village of Mondim in Portugal, once famous for traditional sock knitting. Shades 100, 300, 400 and 500 are natural, undyed wool colours.
Most batches are spun from wool of the Campaniça sheep breed – medium thickness, plump and substantial to the touch, yet pleasant on the skin. Campaniça fibres are long, smooth, slightly elastic and have a subtle sheen, making Mondim perfect for projects with visible stitch definition.
The multicoloured shades are produced mechanically but in a highly artisanal way, which means there may be variations between batches – adding charm and uniqueness to your handmade items.
