Blacker Swan is a luxury worsted yarn, launched in 2012 through a partnership between Blacker Yarns and Swan Inlet farm in the Falkland Islands. Originally run by Andrez and Ali Short, it is now in the hands of Mike and Donna Evans of Spring Point Farm. The Dohne merino sheep are carefully sheared there and their fleece is sorted and graded before being shipped by ship to the UK, where it is turned into exceptional yarn.

To increase durability and reduce fuzzing, we add 8% Shetland or dark blue Leicester wool to the Pale Maiden base and 15% to the Stone and Sand bases. The addition of dark fibres deepens the colours and enhances Swan's unique palette. Dusty Miller yarn, on the other hand, is pure merino wool.

This exceptionally smooth and soft yarn provides excellent stitch definition and works well in both structured and flowing projects. The worsted spinning gives it a springy and elegant feel.
